Smart lens implant

In smart lens implantation, one of the bifocal (bifocal) or trifocal (trifocal) lenses is fitted.

Smart lens surgery and cataract surgery are performed in the same way.

The only difference from cataract surgery is; Is that the smart lens placed in the eye enables far and near vision.

The smart lens is higher quality and more expensive than other lenses.

The lenses are globally approved, have international validity, and a barcode certificate is granted to the patient who underwent surgery for each eye separately.

Smart lens types

Bifocal lenses: In smart lens surgery, it allows both far and near vision. However, the mean distance cannot be seen. Where we need to wear glasses at a medium distance. for example; We need to use glasses to see the computer screen, the car’s speedometer, and the food on the table.

Trifocal lenses: In smart lens surgery, it allows far, medium and near vision, as we get rid of glasses at all distances.

Who are the candidates for smart lens implantation?

The operation can be applied to anyone over the age of 40 who wears near and far glasses. (It can also be applied to those who do not have a problem in the far distance but only have problems in the near distance. However, an interview with the doctor is required to determine the degree of certainty of this).

The operation can also be applied to people over the age of 40 who do not wish to wear glasses.

The operation can also be applied to patients with poor eyesight and under 40 years of age.

It can also be applied to people who have undergone laser vision correction before.

Questions that must be answered to know whether the patient is suitable for the operation or not?

If you are outside Turkey, you must submit a detailed report from the ophthalmologist containing the following:

  • How old are you?
  • What are the eye sizes? Do you use glasses for close or far distances?

How is the process of implanting smart lenses?

After seeing the doctor and making the necessary examinations and x-rays, the right type of lens will be selected for you according to the doctor’s vision.

The eye is numbed with anesthetic drops. The operation is performed in one eye within 15 minutes under local anesthesia.

The eyelids are opened and a small incision of 2.3 mm is made in the eye.

Entering the eye through this incision, the capsule on our lens is taken in a circular shape.

The lens is sucked out with the tip of the phacoemulsifier.

After absorption, our smart lenses are placed in the eye.

The antibiotic is applied to the eye and the eye is closed.

After the operation, the patient goes to his room and after resting for an hour, he is discharged from the hospital.

The eye subject to the operation is closed, and the next day it is opened under the supervision of the doctor.
